Course Description
The Advanced Tractor/Trailer Operator Program includes the study of DOT safety rules and regulations. Students must be prepared for intensive studying and basic driving skills of tractor/trailer combinations. Basic driving skills are taught with either an automatic or manual truck. Students are taught defensive driving techniques and the skills required for emergency situations. All students drive on the open road in highway, city and heavy traffic conditions. We place heavy emphasis on defensive driving, backing, safety and emergency procedures. Graduates do not receive a commercial driver license from us, but we do give them the tools and help them meet all requirements needed to obtain their CDL.
With the successful completion of our program, men and women have the qualifications necessary to enter the trucking industry as an entry‑level diesel tractor/trailer driver.
The Equipment We Use
Western Pacific students are trained on three-axle conventional tractors. We currently use Volvo and Freightliner model trucks, with both manual and automatic transmission. Our tractors are equipped with the engine and transmission combinations commonly used today.
